    This category encompasses mobile apps built by or for organizations to improve workflow efficiency, task completion and/or simplification of work processes by employees. Examples include apps for logistics, forms approval, or sales enablement.

    Entries will be judged, and should include information, on

    • Measurable value (time saved or sales increased)
    • Simplicity of design
    • Features optimized for touch interface
    • Back-end optimization for quick upload/download, access to needed data
    • Size of target audience and adoption rates among target population
  • Best Customer App

    This category encompasses mobile apps built by or for organizations to provide mobile access to their customer base. Note: Apps that are considered to be “off the shelf” or extensions of enterprise software provided by software companies do not qualify.

    Entries will be judged, and should include information, on

    • Measureable value (customer time saved; customer satisfaction ratings, customer engagement and/or sales increased)
    • Simplicity of design
    • Features optimized for touch interface
    • Back-end optimization for quick upload/download, access to needed data
    • Size of target audience and adoption rates among target population
  • Best Business Computing Environment

    This category aims to identify those enterprises with the most consumer-like computing experience for employees in terms of user friendliness, speed and options for hardware and software. Also important is ease of resource access through use of technology such as corporate app store or single sign-on.

    Entries will be judged, and should include information, on

    • Range of hardware options (primary machine/device plus mobile option if primary is not a mobile solution) (both BYOD and corporate-provisioned resources apply)
    • Ease of use across allowable devices. Please describe application types (such as by giving examples of on-premise apps accessed over VDI as well as of apps that are web-based, offered in corporate app store, etc.) and what types of functions are self-service or self-provisioned vs. needing IT support for setup.
    • Application design and/or network resources used to ensure quick access and transaction support.
    • The role that UX objectives have played in the efforts described above.
    • Description of number and type of employees for whom the above applies.
  • Best Collaborative Project

    This category applies to projects executed in a collaborative fashion using tools such as social chat, video meetings and real-time collaboration software to enable productivity and teamwork among team members at disparate locations. Team members may be from any function(s) within the organization; cross-departmental collaboration is desirable but not required. Project must be an initiative of strategic value to the organization.

    Entries will be judged, and should include information, on

    • Complexity and scope of project;
    • Range of collaborative tools used to enhance efficient communication among team members;
    • Range of team member locations and/or roles;
    • Efficiency/time to market or other measurement of project results.
  • Best Cloud Rollout

    This category recognizes enterprises that have made significant application and/or data migrations to services based in the public cloud that are linked to other cloud services and/or in-house systems/data stores. Nominations in this category will have established the majority of these connections more than six months prior to nomination date and be able to provide metrics around enhanced efficiency and/or added functionality and scale resulting from use of the cloud services.

    Entries will be judged, and should include information, on

    • Number of public cloud-based solutions and where in the business they are used;
    • Examples of data thatare shared or pulled/pushed to other applications/databases. Information should include frequency of data updates and description of who enabled the integration, and how.
    • How cloud providers were selected and how this may have changed since initial selections were made.
    • APIs or partnerships created by cloud providers due to nominated project.
    • Description of one or more challenges that arose during build-out and how you solved it.
  • Best Smart Data Project

    This category recognizes data analysis projects that draw upon multiple data types to provide new insights that are then used for marketing, product development or other business decisions.

    Entries will be judged, and should include information, on

    • Business reason for project
    • Data sources mined for analysis
    • Range of data types analyzed (structured, unstructured [social streams, email, etc.], sensor-based, etc.)
    • How findings were used (decisions made)
    • Outcome of decisions made based on findings
